Key Design Trends for Interior Surfaces 2023

Nina Bailey, European Design Lead at Formica Group recently attended the Surface Design Show 2023 to view the latest inspiration, designs, patterns and colour trends emerging within the interiors surface arena. Nina has shared her observations and take-outs from the exhibition with us.

"Rammed earth is a sustainable ancient construction method used to create floors and walls using compacted natural raw materials. We are seeing this style translating onto surface designs as the trend for natural, artisan and homemade materials in warm, earthy hues continues.

"The Axiom® by Formica Group range includes our Layered Sand (F9511) design, inspired by the effect of layering different sands on top of each other, creating undulating stripes that produce a beautifully, natural and subtle effect.

"Terrazzo surfaces continue to remain popular, with designers playing with different scales and materials to create new and interesting designs. Our Spectra Chip (F8381), Grey Chip (F8372) and White Chip (F8382) all associates nicely with the ongoing trend.

"Concrete and plaster finishes also continue to remain popular. The Axiom® by Formica Group range includes several designs including the Lulworth Flint, paired with our Graphite Oak Herringbone, creating a dramatic statement piece.

"While our Elemental Corten (F8832) design with its organic looking blend of rich, warm browns and orange hue links nicely to the trends for oxidized metal surfaces which continues to remain popular."

The Axiom® by Formica Group range features many more inspiring designs and styles. You can explore the full collection here to see which of the on-trend colours, patterns and woods could support your clients’ design concept.
